MINUTES OF SELECTMEN MEETING – March 10, 2014 5:00 PM

Minutes of the previous meeting were read and accepted.
Ed presented the board with 3 tree removal bids.
John Field $28,500
Allied Tree Service $24,000
Granfield Tree Services $12,000
Steve made motion to award bid to Granfield Tree Services with a bid of $12,000, motion seconded by Tom board agreed unanimously. All the trees are located on Burt Hill Road. Ed was instructed to contact the property owners.
A written request was given to the Tolland Police Department requesting authorization to place a State Police antenna on the Public Safety Complex. This antenna will also include Tolland’s current equipment. The intent of the antenna is to improve communications. Ed was asked to obtain additional information such as liability in removing the existing antenna and maintenance of new antenna.
Eric asked where the Tolland Police Department stands with the possession of the 2 HUMVEES. Ed stated that only the Tolland Police Department is able to use them. Ed will contact the Surplus Property Coordinator who supplied the vehicle for additional clarification of the usage. The Board of Selectmen authorized the registering of 1 HUMVEE. If in one year neither one has been used they will be requested to return them.
Eric asked the status of the old police cruiser. Ed stated he made attempts to trade it in with no success. Ed will write up the vehicles specification and it will be place out for bid.
The Board of Selectmen was introduced to Senator Donald F. Humason, Jr.
Ed requested March 18th, 19th and 20th compensation time, request was approved.
